Naveen Jain, Living up to His Advocacy for Education

Naveen Jain, the architect of the online information commerce firm Intelius, not only lives up to his reputation as a clever businessman, but he also has proven to others how exemplary a philanthropist he has become. His eagerness to serve the community transcends his own person, having propelled Intelius and its employees towards the orientation of giving. Aside from being an advocate of causes pertaining to healthcare, youth, and family services, Naveen Jain is a known believer of the power of education. In his commitment of upholding and propelling education to a higher level, Naveen Jain and Intelius have contributed to a number of educational institutions including the Bellevue Schools Foundation and the University Prep. Bellevue Schools Foundation is a nonprofit organization created in 1979 with its mission “to promote and help fund the best possible learning opportunities for all students in the Bellevue School District.” Its programs are focused on three major areas namely Academic Rigor, which provides funding for educational programs in math, science, and language arts as well as music grants; Support for Students, which includes programs such as Bridging the Achievement Gap Fund, and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID); and Support for Teachers, which involves granting financial assistance to teachers. The Foundation has listed Intelius as one of its Benefactor’s circle, having donated more than $5,000 since July 1, 2007. In the course of July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008, Naveen Jain and his wife Anu have been listed among those who contributed $500 to $999. On the other hand, University Prep is an independent, nonsectarian day school located in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Founded in 1976, the school offers programs to students from Grades 6 through 12. Its programs include academics, athletics, service learning, global education, and information technology.
