Ski Deals Are to Be Booked because of the Economic Crisis

With the sterling fetching a little less than the Euro at exchanges, you’d think that there would be many excellent ski bargains to be had in alpine ski resorts this Christmas as potential skiers remain at home to combat the credit crunch. Initial facts just announced highlight that ski resorts are 87 percent booked across the Christmas time period. 10 % higher than the identical period last season.

One will have more chance in early 2009 that currently shows a 35 % reservation rate. The signs of a recession is across the important Feb skiing holiday month that has 68 percent bookings, 4 percent down on last ski season. Booking centres in the resorts of Megeve, Meribel, Avoriaz and Montroc have seen increased reservations in Nov advanced by the heavy early on ski season snow fall. La Plagne has stronger bookings compared to last season, whilst Bessans had a superb Xmas as did Alps Chamonix.

There is strong interest in larger chalets, 6 to 12 spaces, as people group-up to save. Early evidence shows that do it yourself ski trips are holding up, perhaps pointing to the fact that serious skiers will not give up their ski trip. However inquiries for package holidays are down.
